HANDY, George, a Representative from Philadelphia City; born, 1788 in Snow Hill, Somerset County, Md.; farmer; director, Susquehanna Bridge and Bank Company (1832); elected as a National Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1834-1835 term; president, Collins Manufacturing Company (1835); elected, select council, Philadelphia (1837); director, United States Bank of Pennsylvania (1840); director, Bank of Kentucky (1840); died, June 10, 1850 in Mt. Sterling, Montgomery County, Kentucky; interred, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
