DUNCAN, Benjamin, a Representative from Philadelphia City; born, 1789 in Philadelphia County, Pa.; elected, election inspector, Southwark, Philadelphia (1823); elected, school director, Southwark, Philadelphia (1824); appointed, principal corder of wood at the drawbridge landing, and receiver of wharfage, Philadelphia (1825-1831); elected, sheriff, Philadelphia (1832-1835); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1836-1837 term; died, August 16, 1840 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Old Pine Street Presbyterian Churchyard, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
