LEECH, John Boyd, a Representative from Mercer County, Pa.; born, November 29, 1767 in York County, Pa.; private, 17th Regiment, Pennsylvania Milita (War of 1812); unsuccessful campaign, Commissioner, Somerset County (1795); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1808, 1819, 1821, 1822, 1824); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1823-1824 term; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1825-1829); trustee, Allegheny College; justice of the peace, Mercer County; died, May 1, 1864 in Salem Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania; interred, Old Salem Church Cemetery, Salem Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
