OLIVER, Walter Buchanan, a Representative from Mercer County; born, January 1, 1779 in Cumberland County; first lieutenant, 134th Regiment, “Mercer Blues,” Pennsylvania Milita (1813, War of 1812); millwright; unsuccessful campaign, auditor, Mercer County (1810, 1811); unsuccessful campaign, commissioner, Mercer County (1813); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1818, 1819, 1820, 1821, 1825); elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1822-1823 term; reelected to the House for the 1824-1825 term; reelected to the House as a Democrat to the 1830-1831 and 1831-1832 terms; reelected to the House as an Anti-Mason for the 1832-1833, 1835-1836 and 1836-1837 terms; appointed, delegate, Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention (1837-1838); died, August 13, 1839 in Lawernce County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hopewell Cemetery, New Bedford, Lawerence County, Pennsylvania.
