McDOWELL, Charles, a Representative from Bedford County; born, September 26, 1779 in Belfast, Ireland; publisher, The Hive (1803-1804); publisher and editor, Bedford Gazette (1805-1832); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1832-1833 term; died, February 20, 1843 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Old Presbyterian Graveyard, Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.
