THOMSON, Alexander, a Representative from Bedford County; born, January 12, 1788 in Franklin County, Pa.; sickle maker; teacher, Bedford Classical Academy; attorney (1816-1848); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1823-1824; elected, United States Congress (1824- May 1, 1826); appointed, assistant judge, Lancaster, York and Dauphin Counties (May 1, 1826-1827); appointed, president judge, 16th judicial district of Pennsylvania (1827-1841); law professor, Marshal College (now Franklin and Marshall College); died, August 2, 1848 in Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Falling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
