STATLER, Samuel, a Representative from Cambria and Somerset Counties; born, January 14, 1776 in Pennsylvania; private, Pennsylvania Militia (1814, War of 1812); farmer; engaged, saw mill; elected as an Anti-Mason to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1829-1830 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1830-1831 term; elected, delegate, Democratic State Convention (1841); died, May 17, 1860 in Shade Township, Somerset, Pennsylvania; interred, Statler Cemetery, Shade Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
