FORWARD, Chauncey, a Representative from Cambria and Somerset Counties; born, February 4, 1793 in Granby, Hartford County, Ct.; attended, Jefferson College (now, Washington and Jefferson College); commander, “The Mountain Cavalry,” Somerset County, Pennsylvania Militia (1829); attorney (1817-1839); elected, burgess, Somerset (1820); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1820-1821, 1821-1822 and 1822-1823 terms; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1823-1826); elected, United State Congress (1826-1831); gubernatorial appointee, prothonotary, register and recorder of deeds, and clerk of the courts, Somerset County (1831-1836); engaged, real estate; died, October 9, 1839 in Somerset, Somerset County, Pennsylvania; interred, Aukeny Square Cemetery, Somerset, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
