ENGLE, Joseph, a Representative from Delaware County; born, January 10, 1770 in Nether Providence Township, Delaware County, Pa.; farmer; elected, commissioner, Delaware County (1806, 1822-1824); appointed, prothonotary, recorder of deeds, clerk of courts, Delaware County (1809, 1812, 1814); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1826-1827 term; resigned from the House prior to taking the Oath of office, December 6, 1826; appointed, associate judge, Court of Common Pleas, Delaware County (1826-1842); died, October 8, 1857 in Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; interred, Chester Friends Burial Ground, Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
