WISE, John Henry, a Representative from Westmoreland County; born, December 16, 1788 in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pa.; second lieutenant, 22nd Infantry, Pennsylvania Militia (1812-1813, War of 1812); brigadier general, 1st Brigade, 13th Division, Pennsylvania Militia (1821); silversmith; engaged, timber and sawmill business; clock and watch maker; elected, coroner, Westmoreland County (1814); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1816); appointed, prothonotary, Westmoreland County (1819-1820); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1821-1822, 1822-1823 and 1823-1824 terms; unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1824); died, May 13, 1833 in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Old Union Cemetery, Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
