NEGLEY, John Henry, a Representative from Allegheny and Butler Counties; born, April 6, 1778 in Ligonier, Westmoreland County, Pa.; elected, sheriff, Butler County (1806-1807); elected, commissioner, Butler County (1807-1808); elected as a Democrat-Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1809-1810; reelected to the House as a Republican to the 1810-1811 term; elected, prothonotary, Butler County (1820-1821); reelected to the House as a Democrat to the 1821-1822 term; unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1824); farmer; died, August 11, 1870 in Butler County, Pennsylvania; interred, South Cemetery, Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania.
