BERLIN, Philip, a Representative from Franklin County; born, September 2, 1779 in Germany; wagon maker; grocer and dry goods merchant; unsuccessful campaign, coroner, Franklin County (1814); director, poor house, Franklin County (1815-1817); elected, commissioner, Franklin County (1817-1819); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1820); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1827-1828 term; director, Cumberland Valley Railroad; proprietor, grist mill; died, August 29, 1863 in Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania; interred, First Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
