WILKINS, Ross, a Representative from Allegheny and Butler Counties; born, March 13, 1799 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa.; graduated, Dickinson College (1816); lieutenant colonel, 106th Regiment, Pennsylvania Militia; lawyer (1820-1832); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1827-1828, 1828-1829 and 1829-1830 terms; presidential appointee, judge, Michigan Territory (1832-1836); elected, delegate, Lenawee County, Michigan Constitutional Convention (1835-1836); presidential appointee, judge, Eastern District of Michigan, Detroit (1836-1869); appointed, recorder, Detroit (1837); member, board of regents, University of Michigan (1837-1842); died, May 17, 1872 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan; interred, Elmwood Cemetery, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.
