PATTERSON, James, a Representative from Allegheny and Butler Counties; born, 1768 in Campbell County, Va.; colonel, 2nd Brigade, Pennsylvania Militia (1814, War of 1812); farmer; unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Allegheny County (1807); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat-Republican for the 1808-1809 and 1809-1810 term; reelected to the House as a Republican for the 1810-1811 term; tax collector (1814-1825); justice of the peace, Mifflin Township; reelected to the House as a Democrat for the 1823-1824, 1824-1825, 1828-1829 and 1829-1830 term; died, January 6, 1847 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Lebanon Church Cemetery, West Mifflin Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
