STEWART, Robert, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, June 18, 1789 in Churchville, Harford County, Md.; tavern keeper; tinsmith; unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Allegheny County (1813); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1831-1832 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1832); director, Bank of Pittsburgh (1833); died, September 8, 1836 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Union Cemetery (now Union Dale Cemetery), Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
