GOODMAN, George Frederick, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, May 12, 1789 in Philadelphia County, Pa.; quartermaster sergeant, Philadelphia Artillery, Pennsylvania Militia (1808); printer, publisher, The Whig Chronicle, Philadelphia (1812); elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1816-1817 term; reelected to the House as an Independent Republican to the 1817-1818 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1818); elected, school director, Northern Liberties, Philadelphia County (1821-1824, 1842); justice of the peace, Northern Liberties, Penn, and Kensington, Philadelphia County (1831-1832); treasurer, Northern Liberties and Penn Township Rail Road Company (1834); elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1836); died, January 17, 1869 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
