SMITH, John Rhea Clarendon, a Representative from Philadelphia City; born, circa 1780; graduated, Princeton College, 1801; major, First Troop, Philadelphia Cavalry, Pennsylvania Militia (1805-1825, War of 1812); merchant; elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1824-1825, 1825-1826 and 1826-1827 terms; died, July 15, 1868 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint James the Less Episcopal Graveyard, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
