BUCHANAN, Andrew, a Representative from Greene County; born, April 8, 1780 in Chester County, Pa.; graduated, Dickinson College, 1798; attorney (1798-1848); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Waynesburg (1822-1835); appointed, commissioner, Greene County; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1831-1832 and 1832-1833 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House; elected, United States Congress (1836-1839); appointed, deputy attorney general, Greene County (1839); died, December 2, 1848 in Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greene Mount Cemetery, Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania.
