McCLURE, Charles, a Representative from Cumberland County; born, 1804 in Cumberland County, Pa.; attended, Hopewell Academy; graduated, Dickinson College, 1824; attorney (1826-1846); trustee, Dickinson College (1833-1846); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1835-1836 term; elected, United States Congress (1837-1839, 1840-1841); elected, Pennsylvania Secretary of State (1843-1845); died, January 10, 1846 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County Pennsylvania.
