NESBITT, James, Jr., a Representative from Luzerne County; born, October 15, 1790 in Plymouth Township, Luzerne County, Pa.; attended, Plymouth Academy; captain, 1st Battalion, 2nd Regiment, Plymouth Company, Pennsylvania Militia (5 years); farmer; coal operator; elected, tax collector, Luzerne County (1816-1824); elected, assessor, Plymouth Township (1824); supervisor, director, Wyoming Bank (1829-1840); elected, sheriff, Luzerne County (1832-1835); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as an Anti-Mason for the 1835-1836 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1836-1837 term; merchant; died, October 9, 1840 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; interred, Shawnee Cemetery, Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
