Shunk (1846); merchant; farmer; elected, treasurer, Luzerne County (1820-1822); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1824-1825 and 1825-1826 term; elected, delegate, Democratic State Convention (1828); gubernatorial appointee, Pennsylvania Canal Commissioner (1842); treasurer, North Branch Canal Company; incorporator, Wilkes-Barre Water Company (1850); trustee and president, The Wilkes-Barre Female Institute (1854-1866); president, Wyoming Bank (1860-1866); died, November 7, 1866 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hollenback Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
