MATTS, John, a Representative from Bucks County; born, March 16, 1786 in Pennsylvania; colonel, Pennsylvania Militia; farmer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1824-1825, 1825-1826, 1826-1827 and 1827-1828 terms; postmaster, Mattsville (now Richlandtown), United States Post Office (1828-1839); died, January 14, 1875 in Richland, Bucks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Springfield Mennonite Meetinghouse and Cemetery, Pleasant Valley, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
