MILLER, Jesse, a Representative from Perry County; born, 1800 in Landisburg, Perry County, Pa.; clerk to commissioners, Perry County (1820-1823); elected, sheriff, Perry County (1823-1826); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1826-1827 and 1827-1828 terms; resigned from the House, February 6, 1828; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (Special Election, January 29, 1828-1832); elected, United States Congress (1833-1836); presidential appointee, auditor, United States Treasury (1836-1842); elected, Canal Commissioner of Pennsylvania (1844-1845); appointed, Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (1845-1848); publisher and editor, the Keystone; died, August 20, 1850 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Harrisburg Cemetery, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
