BLACK, James, a Representative from Perry County; born, March 6, 1793 in Newport, Perry County, Pa.; farmer; merchant; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1828-1829, 1829-1830 and 1830-1831 terms; elected, United States Congress (Special Election, December 5, 1836-1837 and 1843-1847); appointed, associate judge, Perry County (1842-1843, 1854-1855); toll collector, Juniata Canal; died, June 21, 1873 in New Bloomfield, Perry County, Pennsylvania; interred, New Bloomfield Cemetery, New Bloomfield, Perry County, Pennsylvania.
