MAKIN (MEAKIN), Thomas, a Clerk from Philadelphia County; born, 1665 in England; Latin and grammar tutor and headmaster, Friend’s Academy (now William Penn Charter School) (1690-1730); poet; appointed, Chief Clerk, Pennsylvania Colonial Assembly (August 16, 1699-May 10, 1700, December 5, 1706-February 4, 1707, October 15, 1707-November 19, 1707); died, November 23, 1733 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Friends Arch Street Meeting House Burial Ground, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
