EVANS, Abel, a Clerk from Philadelphia County; served, British Army (1778, Revolutionary War); appointed, Assistant Chief Clerk, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1771-1776); appointed, Chief Clerk, Pennsylvania General Assembly (May 22, 1776-September 26, 1776); clerk to the superintendent of police, Philadelphia (1777).
