FRANKS, Samuel Davidson, a Clerk from Berks County; born, 1784 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; attended, Princeton College (now Princeton University); second lieutenant and aide to Brigadier General John Adams, Pennsylvania Militia (1814; War of 1812); major general, Pennsylvania Militia (1814-1822); lawyer (1805-1818); Deputy Attorney General, Berks and Northampton Counties (1809); elected, Assistant Clerk, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1810-1814); elected, Chief Clerk, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (December 8, 1814-December 3, 1818); appointed, prothonotary, Berks County (1818); appointed, president judge, Schuylkill, Lebanon, and Dauphin Counties (12th Judicial District) (1818-January 12, 1830, resigned); died, April 7, 1830 in Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
