BOWMAN, Shadrack Howard, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, circa 1828 in Germantown (now Philadelphia), Philadelphia County, Pa.; private, Company D, 95th Regiment, “Pennsylvania Zouaves,” Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); leather shoemaker and merchant; elected as a Whig American to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1855 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1856 term; died as a result from battle while serving in the Pennsylvania Infantry, September 16, 1863 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Glenwood Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania (defunct); removed to Philadelphia National Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
