BOYD, John J., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born circa 1818 in Ireland; private, Company G, 95th Regiment, “Pennsylvania Zouaves,” Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); laborer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1854 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1855 term; member, 20th Ward Democratic Committee; died during battle while serving in the Pennsylvania Infantry, May 3, 1863 at Salem Heights, Spotsylvania County, Virginia; interred, Fredericksburg National Cemetery, Fredericksburg, Fredericksburg City, Virginia.
