DEMERS, Solomon, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, circa 1805 in Canada; shoemaker; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1851 and 1852 terms; unseated by contest, January 31, 1852; reelected to the House for the 1853 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1854 term; unsuccessful campaign, clerk of the Orphans’ Court, Philadelphia (1858); died, June 16, 1864 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Sixth Street Union Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania (defunct); removed to Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
