DOWNS, Furman E., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born circa 1801 in Pennsylvania; brush maker; elected as a Democrat for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1848 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1849 term; cigar maker; died, May 27, 1891 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Fernwood Cemetery (now Fernwood Cemetery and Mausoleum), Fernwood, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
