KLINE, John, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, circa 1805 in Pennsylvania; boot and shoemaker; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1846 and 1847 terms; appointed, weighmaster, Pennsylvania Canal Commission (1849); unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Philadelphia County (1852); chair, City Democratic Committee (1860); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1860, 1862).
