RUSH, John, a Representative from Philadelphia City; lawyer; elected, manager, Manayunk and Flat Rock Turnpike Road Company (1826-1827); member and chair, Committee on Vigilance, Roxborough Township, Philadelphia County (1828-1834); chair, Anti-Jackson Committee, Philadelphia County (1832); president, Democratic Whig Association of Roxborough (1833-1834); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1834, 1836); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1841 term; reelected to the House to serve the 1842 and 1843 terms.
