MONTELIUS, William, a Representative from Philadelphia City; born, circa 1781 in Lancaster County, Pa.; dry goods merchant; chair, Middle Ward Independent Democrats and National Republican Committee (1833); director, Pennsylvania Fire Insurance Company (1839-1864); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1847 term; died, March 21, 1864 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
