DIEHL, John H., a Representative from Philadelphia City; born, 1810 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; merchant; partner, Diehl & Coxe; delegate, Middle Ward, Philadelphia Whig Convention (1844); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1848 and 1849 terms; elected, president, common council, Philadelphia; presidential appointee, collector, Second District of Philadelphia, United States Internal Revenue Department (1862-1868); director, Village Green Seminary (1864-1865); director, Cameron Petroleum Company of Pennsylvania; died, December 14, 1883 in Delanco Township, Burlington County, New Jersey; interred, Monument Cemetery, Beverly, Burlington County, New Jersey.
