SIMONTON, John Wiggins, a Representative from Juniata and Union Counties; born, December 5, 1812 in Hanover Township, Dauphin County, Pa.; captain, Jackson Guards and Mifflinburg Greens, Pennsylvania Militia; private, Company F, 28th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1863, Civil War); farmer; delegate, County Whig Convention (1852); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1854 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1855 term; elected, associate judge, Union County (1856-1870); died, April 28, 1895 in Mifflinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mifflinburg Cemetery, Mifflinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania.
