BUSHNELL, Pope, a Representative from Pike and Wayne Counties; born, February 11, 1789 in Salisbury, Litchfield County, Ct.; major, 70th Regiment, Pennsylvania Militia (War of 1812); teacher; farmer; commissioned, Justice of the Peace (1844); elected, treasurer, Wayne County; elected as a Volunteer Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1847 term; reelected to the House as a Democrat for the 1848 term; elected, auditor, Wayne County (1850-1851); died, January 19, 1881 in Dyberry Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania.
