MOTT, Henry Spering, a Representative from Monroe and Pike Counties; born, September 23, 1811 in Easton, Northampton County, Pa.; farmer; contractor; engaged, real estate; justice of the peace; elected, prothonotary, register, and clerk of courts, Pike County (1840); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1852 and 1853 terms; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania Canal Commissioner (1854); elected, Pennsylvania Canal Commissioner (1855-1857); elected, delegate, National Democratic Convention (1856); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1861-1863); president, Pennsylvania Railroad Company; elected, delegate, Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention (1872-1873); died, June 7, 1877 in Milford, Pike County, Pennsylvania; interred, Milford Cemetery, Milford, Pike County, Pennsylvania.
