BRODHEAD, Richard, Jr., a Representative from Monroe and Northampton Counties; born, January 5, 1811 in Lehman Township, Pike County, Pa.; attended, Lafayette College; lawyer (1836-1863); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1838-1839, 1840 and 1841 terms; treasurer, Northampton County (1841); elected, United States Congress (1842-1849); elected, United States Senate (1851-1857); elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1848, 1860); died, September 16, 1863 in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania; interred, Easton Cemetery, Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
