BROWN, Rasselas, a Representative from Elk, McKean and Warren Counties; born, September 10, 1812 in Brownville, Jefferson County, NY; attended, Watertown Academy; attended, Belleville Academy; graduated, Union College, 1836; studied law, Judge Lansing Wetmore; studied law, Struthers and Johnson Law Office; lawyer (1840-1895); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1845 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1846 term; member, Revenue Board of the Commonwealth (1851); appointed, president judge, 6th Judicial District (1860); attorney, Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railroad Company; director, Dunkirk, Allegheny Valley and Pittsburgh Railroad Company; director, First National Bank of Warren; elected, delegate, Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention (1872-1873); died, August 23, 1895 in Warren, Warren County, Pennsylvania; interred, Oakland Cemetery, Pleasant Township, Warren County, Pennsylvania.
