DeFRANCE, Robert Montgomery, a Representative from Mercer, Venango and Warren Counties; born, July 22, 1826 in Sandy Lake Township, Mercer County, Pa.; graduated, Western Reserve College, 1849; mathematics teacher; attorney (1853-1879); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1854 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1855 term; unsuccessful campaign, United State Congress (1868); elected, delegate, Pennsylvania Constitution Convention (1872-1873); died, August 19, 1879 in Mercer, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
