HOGE, John, a Representative from Mercer County; born, 1801 in Washington County, Pa.; graduated, Washington College, 1818; lawyer (1824-1854); appointed, District Attorney, Mercer County (1824-1828, 1839-1845); owner and editor, The Western PressĀ (1827-1831); elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1832); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1840 and 1850 terms; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1851-1853); died, March 26, 1854 in Brownsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mercer Citizens Cemetery, Mercer, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
