EMERY, Joseph H., a Representative from Mercer County; born, March 6, 1795 in Pennsylvania; served, Pennsylvania Militia (War of 1812); carpenter; proprietor, cabinetry store; canal contractor; elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1849 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1850 term; elected, president, council, New Castle (1849); died, March 19, 1854 in New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greenwood Cemetery, New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
