NORTH, Hugh McAlister, a Representative from Lancaster County; born, May 7, 1826 in Juniata County, Pa.; attorney (1849-1907); elected as a Democrat American to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1854; of council, Pennsylvania Railroad Company and Reading Railroad Company; elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1860); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1864); died, December 20, 1907 in Columbia, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; interred, Woodward Hill Cemetery, Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
