HURFORD, Lewis, a Representative from Lancaster County; born, circa 1784; dry goods and produce merchant; director, Lancaster City and County Fire Insurance Company (1841-1842); commissioner, Bear Mountain Railroad Company (1842); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1849; director, Farmers Bank of Lancaster (1849); superintendent and director, Susquehanna and Slack Water Navigation Company (1853-1854); died, April 3, 1862 in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
