CARPENTER, Charles, a Representative from Lancaster County; born, December 3, 1803 in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pa.; tanner; elected, delegate, Democratic Anti-Mason County Convention (1839); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1842 and 1843; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1844); elected, auditor, East Cocalico Township (1859-1876); died, March 11, 1884 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; interred, Bowman Cemetery, Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
