KAUFFMAN, Benjamin, a Representative from Lancaster County; tavern keeper; elected, delegate, Democrat Anti-Mason County Convention (1833); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1840 term; unsuccessful campaign, recorder, Lancaster County (1845); unsuccessful campaign, clerk of the Orphans’ Court, Lancaster County (1848); member, Whig County Convention (1848, 1849); member, Republican Executive Committee, Lancaster County (1862); director, Washington and Manor Turnpike Company (1863).
