GRITTINGER, Adam, a Representative from Lebanon County; born, January 1, 1800 in Londonderry Township, Lebanon County, Pa.; teacher (1819-1830, 1833-1836); engaged, mercantile business (1830-1832); assistant engineer, Pennsylvania State Canal (1836-1837); elected, clerk, Quarter Sessions and Orphans’ Court, Lebanon County (1839-1841); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1847 and 1848; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1849); elected, surveyor, Lebanon County (1853-1865); elected, school director, Lebanon; elected, burgess, Lebanon (1864-1866); appointed, notary public (1864-1870, 1873-1874); died, September 16, 1874 in Lebanon, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.
