OTTO, John Augustus, a Representative from Schuylkill County; born, August 13, 1814 in Reading, Berks County, Pa.; clerk, iron business; operator, Otto Coal Mines (1835-1859); farmer; elected, justice of the peace (1845); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1849 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1850 term; lumber merchant; owner, John A. Otto & Sons, furniture plant (1859-1881); proprietor, “Blue Mill,” lumber mill, Williamsport (1870-1881); died, October 1, 1889 in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; interred, Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania
