HAMMER, Jacob, a Representative from Schuylkill County; born, December 13, 1802 in Pennsylvania; farmer; elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in a Special Election on April 30, 1836; Sworn-In, May 17, 1836 to serve the remaining 1835-1836 term; elected, register of wills, recorder of deeds and clerk of the Orphans’ Court, Schuylkill County (1838-1839); reelected to the House for the 1844 and 1853 terms; tanner; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania Auditor General (1853); died, November 3, 1860 in Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Salem Evangelical Cemetery, Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
